Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash was named American League manager of the year, after finishing in third place in each of the previous two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the third time a Tampa Bay manager has been honored. Joe Maddon won the award while with the Rays in 2008 and 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No manager was named on every ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ballots, submitted prior to postseason play, were cast by two writers representing each league city. They are tabulated on a system that awards five points for first place, three points for second place and one point for third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
